Online memorial page

An online memorial page where everyone can share what they remember.

Tell their story at the top, then open a guestbook beneath it. Family, friends, colleagues and neighbours can write a tribute, light a candle or add a photograph from one link, wherever they are.

Why families use one

A guestbook that stays open after the service.

A paper guestbook closes when the funeral ends. An online memorial keeps welcoming the people who could not travel, and the ones who hear the news months later.

  • Words, candles or photographs

Some people write a long tribute. Others only want to light a candle. Both belong on the page, beside scanned photographs from every decade.

  • One link for every circle

Put the link in the funeral notice, the order of service, the family WhatsApp group or an email to their old workplace.

  • You decide who sees it

Share the page by link, or protect it with a PIN. Turn on review if you want to read tributes before they appear.

Memorial tribute examples

What people write on a memorial page.

A tribute does not need to be long. The ones families return to most are usually one specific memory, told plainly.

  • Dad taught me to fix a bicycle chain, to apologise properly and to leave a place cleaner than I found it. I’m still working on the last one.

    From a son

  • You marked our essays in green ink because you said red felt unkind. I became a teacher because of you, and I still use green.

    From a former student

  • Every Sunday she waved from the window as we walked past. The street feels quieter without her.

    From a neighbour

Set up a memorial page in a few minutes.

  1. Step 1

    Add their name and dates

Include a photograph, their birth date and, if you wish, the date they passed. Creating the page is free.

  2. Step 2

    Let guests remember

Guests write a tribute, light a candle or add a photograph. When words are hard, a candle is enough.

  3. Step 3

    Share one link

Send it with the funeral details, in the order of service or to family groups. Guests do not need an account.

  4. Step 4

    Choose who sees it

Keep it unlisted or private with a PIN, and review, hide or restore tributes from your dashboard.

FAQ

Have a question? We have answers.

Is an online memorial page free?

Yes. Creating a memorial page is free, and guests never pay or sign up to leave a tribute, light a candle or add a photograph.

What is the difference between a memorial page and an online guestbook?

On dearlio they are one page. The top tells the person’s story with their photograph and dates, and the guestbook beneath collects tributes, candles and photographs from guests.

Do guests need an account to leave a tribute?

No. Guests can write a tribute, light a candle or share a JPEG, PNG or WebP photograph without creating an account.

Can I keep the memorial private?

Yes. Set the page to private and choose a PIN of 6 to 12 characters, or make it unlisted so only people with the link can find it.

Will the memorial page appear in Google?

Creator-page search discovery is currently paused. Unlisted pages remain outside public listings, while private pages also require a PIN.

Can I approve tributes before they appear?

Yes. Turn on review in settings and new posts wait for your approval. You can also hide, edit, delete or restore any post.

Can I add birth and passed dates?

Yes. Add a birth date and an optional passed date when you create the page, and update either later in settings.

Give their memories somewhere to gather.
